ABS Clearing-House

The Access and Benefit-Sharing Clearing House (ABS Clearing-House) is a platform to exchange information on access and benefit sharing measures. Researchers can use the website to find out whether there are any legislative requirements under the Nagoya Protocol for the collection or utilization of a genetic resource.

For information on possible access measures adopted by EU Member States, one should consult their country profile on the ABS Clearing-House as well.

Note that the ABS Focal Point of each country has responsibility for ABS information only. There may be other permit requirements (e.g. for collecting in protected areas, for working with indigenous people, etc.) as well as export permits and research permits. The ABS Focal Point may be unaware of these, and they may be handled by different government departments. The majority of countries do not have a single information point.
