VLIR’s Working Group on Science, Ethics & Integrity invited Hendrik Segers and Han de Koeijer of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (KBIN) to speak on the second gathering of the Nagoya Protocol Learning Network, 1 February 2019.
Hendrik Segers is coordinating the Belgian National Focal Point of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The Nagoya Protocol is a supplementary agreement to the CBD. Hendrik Segers is a member of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA).
Han de Koeijer is part of the CBD committees who advise on the Clearing-House mechanism (CHM-IAC) and on the capacity building that is necessary for the implementation of the Protocol (ABS-CBIAC).
Egbert Jacquemyn of the Agency Nature & Forests, the Competent Authority of the Nagoya Protocol in Flanders, took part in the discussion.
